It was August, and the last of the long sun’s light cast the whole park in the kind of hazy glow usually reserved for over-exposed polaroid photos. Oblivious to the keeper locking each gate with us still inside, we talked and talked.
‘The thing is, I look at the rest of my life and the rest of my life involves you. But before that, there’s some things I have to do.’
‘Like what?’
‘See the world.’
There was a pause.
‘Me too. It’s been on my list for a while.’
A longer pause. It was suddenly darker, and much cooler.
‘We could always, y’know, go and see the world… together.’
We took some time, got married, and now we’re going. Check back here if you want to keep up.
